Eleanor and I simply love all things Tolkien! The passage featured on this mug is our favorite in the whole trilogy. And there are many beautiful passages in The Lord of the Rings and Tolkien’s other writings.
We love this particular one because it reminds us of our own true King, who will return one day. Many legends and fairy tales point to this truth (I’m lookin’ at you, King Arthur—lovely man…when you get to know him—more on that later!).
Deep within our souls, we know Eden calls. When the King returns, He fulfills that heart’s desire for good. We can’t even fathom with our most practiced imaginations what our eyes will see and our ears will hear when that day comes. The best thing we can do is have our hearts and minds at the ready, as the wise and valiant Faramir was when King Aragorn returned. It is the Great Story and greatest romance of all!
