Nora Lamar Cotton Canvas Tote Bag for Writers
And we are ALL writers, are we not?
You may have already read my thoughts about writing by hand. If not, keep reading! :-D
In short, I mainly discuss how C.S. Lewis disliked using a typewriter because of the noise. He prefered pen and ink! Well, our keyboards are quieter than early typewriters to be sure (though, I find vintage typewriters quite nostalgic). Nevertheless, whether you are journaling in a notebook, banging away on a laptop (or a vintage typewriter), I believe writing is good for the soul. It helps me think about what I truly mean to say.
And you do not need to be good at it, friend! Though, we will all get better with practice. In any case, just ignore the grammar alarmists in comments sections and WRITE. Please don’t misunderstand me. Grammar is important, especially in certain situations such as writing an academic paper or a news article. However, the fear of grammar can scare us from the beauty of writing. Don’t let that happen to you, my friend! Just pick up that lovely pen (or laptop) and have a go!
Much like C.S. Lewis, I do love writing with a dip pen and ink. It is more challenging; however, it slows me down so I can think. Moreover, there is no distraction from emails, texts, or media. In our fast-paced world, it doesn’t hurt to slow down a wee bit. And if you would like a tote bag to remind you, this one features me sitting on some books. If you didn’t already know, I am a wren! More on that story in future posts. My best human friend, Eleanor, painted this picture of me in watercolor. I hope it encourages you today!
Happy writing!
