Ezekiel 37 "Spirit and Life" T-Shirt
Hello, Friend!
Eleanor and I designed a tote bag and t-shirt with this deeply moving passage from the prophet named Ezekiel, one that deserves much study and thought. We hope you are familiar with it and it brings you joy to consider its promises. If you haven’t read my thoughts on Ezekiel 37, then keep reading! I am not a Bible scholar, but I read and ponder all the same. I try to learn a little more each time I read, so you will see that in my musings.
Thank you for visiting and please come again!
Some Musings on Ezekiel 37:
I realize Ezekiel 37 is a long and complex piece of scripture; however, Eleanor and I both find it fascinating, romantic, and so full of hope! You’ve possibly heard C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien write of the “true myth.” Well, dive into this passage with your whole mind and soul to understand what that means. Embrace its beauty, its romance, its history, and its truth.
I’ve learned that there are five levels of interpretation of the Hebrew scriptures, ranging from themost apparent to the most mysterious. On the simplest level, or “Pshat,” this scripture appears to speak to the reunification of the nation of Israel and all her Diaspora. There is also a deeper reading or “Remez,’ which alludes to the time to come, when King David will rule forever more!
We know the royal line of David is promised for an Arthurian “return of the King” type of event. Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) is that King, fulfilling the prophecies and soon to take the throne again for good. This may sound like a fantasy or fairy tale to some. Perhaps that fairy feel is just more evidence of its truth. The enemy of our souls would have us think otherwise—that life is just what you see and touch and nothing more.
Don’t believe it, Friend! Some of the most beautiful and true things are not seen our touched at all, at least not in Time and Space as we know it. We but “see through a glass darkly,” and no mistake!
He is just beginning, and more will be fulfilled as the time of our King’s return draws nigh!
This feels me with joy and hope, and I look forward to when the groaning of all Creation will end and dry bones will have flesh and spirit again.
The dead will rise. The new Heaven and Earth, along with the new Jerusalem will be revealed! And the One True King will rule in true wisdom and justice. We will learn his ways— as we should have long ago.
I hope to see you there, Friend!
