Hello and Happy Autumn!
I love this time of year, don’t you? There is something so nostalgic and beautiful and, well, it reminds me of something, but I cannot remember what exaclty it is. Perhaps that’s what C.S. Lewis is talking about in his writings about joy. These brief moments of beauty and warm hopeful anticipation are relly pointing us to something infinitely greater than what we can imagine. But we imagine nonetheless, do we not? The Creator created us with imagination because it is a sort of language, I think. With it, we can appreciate beauty, aspire to goodness, and recognize truth. Imagination may even be a better way to do these things than our reason, though reason is still very important for keeping us grounded. We must have balance. But I digress! Well, this candle features the family tartan of my friend, Tilian the Chipmunk! Though, he lives in England, of the Anglo Saxon period (more on that later), he does have a Scottish mother (I know, this is odd, but animals are different from humans in many ways).
Tilian’s tartan is a mixture of nutty browns, with hints of berry red, sunny gold, and Autumn sky blue. I find this tartan very lovely and inviting, reminding me of the old forests of England, Wales, and Scotland in the Autumn season.
