C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, among others, were profoundly influenced by George MacDonald, a Victorian Scottish preacher and writer. You maybe familiar with some of his fairy stories, such as The Princess and Curdie, Back of the North Wind, or Phantastes! Much has been written about MacDonald, but the one thing I notice when I read his words is his deep and passionate love for the Messiah! His fiction is simply full of wisdom! Eleanor’s favorite is the Wingfold Trilogy, and I just love his fairy tales, like Phantastes and The Princess and the Goblin. (If you haven’t read my thoughts about fairy tales, I invite you to stay awhile!)
