Meet Sophia the Fox! Sophia is from 1930’s Oxford, England. She was/is actually aquainted with C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and other members of the Inklings! They would often run into each other on Addison’s Walk, a beautiful wooded trail in Oxford.
Sophia is always trying to learn about life and truth. She seeks wisdom above all else. She says she always enjoyed listening to Lewis and the others talking and would often quietly follow them. For a long time, they did not notice her. However, after one very important night that she will never forget (more on that later), she allowed herself to be seen. After that night, Sophia tells me that they were always friendly and invited her to follow along, so she never feared them as she did other humans and learned a great deal from their discussions.
Sophia had a difficult time picking a favorite verse from the Bible, but settled on Proverbs 9:10. She has realized since that one special night on Addison’s Walk that there is only one Sourse of wisdom. Now she seeks Him above all else!
I painted Sophia pointing at her favorite Bible verse and drinking her favorite tea, a strong Assam with milk and plenty of raw sugar. Incidentally, Sophia prefers to put the milk in first. How do you make your tea?

P.S. Sophia’s favorite time of year is Autumn and Winter, so I painted her wearing her favorite fuzzy woolen scarf! I wonder if Sophia inpired C.S.Lewis when he wrote about Narnia’s inhabitants? I will have to ask him one day. Until then, it is a lovely thought.

Blank product sourced from Nicaragua, the US, Guatemala, or Honduras
Care: Machine wash cold, inside-out, gentle cycle with mild detergent and similar colors. Use non-chlorine bleach, only when necessary. No fabric softeners. Tumble dry low, or hang-dry for longest life. Cool iron inside-out if necessary. Do not iron decoration. Do not dry clean.
